Billed at its 2010 launch as the “naughty Volvo,” the S60 looks to satisfy those with a passion for driving as well as a passion for safety.

The T6 R-Design includes a turbocharged 325-hp 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine. Chassis equipment includes dynamic stability traction control (DSTC) with advanced stability control, and corner traction control with torque vectoring. Safety features include Pedestrian Detection with Auto Brake, City Safety, whiplash protection front headrests (WHIPS), anti-lock brakes, and six airbags. Sirius satellite radio and Bluetooth are standard. The T5 includes T-Tec cloth upholstery, the T6 has standard leather upholstery. 2013 Qoros 3 Estate Concept

At its global debut at the 2013 Geneva International Motor Show, new automotive brand, Qoros, presents the world premiere of its first series production vehicle, an elegant compact (C-segment) car with the official international model designation, the Qoros 3 Sedan.

With the brand starting from a clean-sheet, Qoros vehicles are elegantly styled and focus on quality and value, and on meeting the lifestyle needs and expectations of modern, metropolitan, ‘always-connected’ target customers in China and Europe.

The Qoros 3 Sedan, which is entering a pre-production development phase after two summers and two winters of extensive testing at key locations around the world, is due to be launched in China in the second half of 2013, with first European sales following later in the year. The launch of further Qoros models is then planned at intervals of approximately six months.

To be produced in a new assembly plant in Changshu, China, the new range of Qoros models is being designed and engineered by an international team of experienced specialists and new, young automotive talent, and has been developed with the support of internationally-renowned suppliers such as Magna Steyr, TRW, Continental, Bosch, Getrag, Benteler, Lear, Microsoft, Harman, Neusoft-Alpine and Iconmobile.

Rapid expansion of the model range will be achieved thanks to an innovative modular vehicle architecture developed in-house at Qoros. The clean, elegant styling direction – drawing heavily on contemporary European themes – has been developed to give all Qoros models an unmistakable brand identity.

Designed to offer generous space and a high-quality interior finish, Qoros models will also feature an infotainment system which is unique in the automotive field. Featuring an eight-inch capacitive touchscreen, the system was developed in-house by Qoros with displays designed for minimal driver distraction, replacing the array of switches and buttons that blight many modern car interiors. The system features an advanced navigation system, extensive social networking connectivity and the ability for drivers to monitor their car’s health and, for example, to book dealer service appointments.

Qoros aims to achieve top scores on both European and Chinese crash tests for all its models.

Founded in 2007, Qoros is an equal joint venture partnership between Chery Automobile, China’s biggest independent automotive manufacturer, and Israel Corporation, a global industrial holding company.

Qoros is headquartered in Changshu, a region of great importance to China’s rapidly expanding automotive industry, where construction of its all-new, highly-efficient and environmentally-sustainable production facility is nearing completion. “The factory has an initial annual production capacity of 150,000 units, with potential for expansion to 450,000 units,” explains Alexander Wortberg, Qoros’ Director of Production (formerly of BMW).

The Qoros 3 Estate Concept showcases a vision of a future variant with a bodystyle that is especially popular among European motorists and is geared towards the travel needs of modern families, providing generous and highly versatile interior space.

Using the same platform and distinctive clean, elegant styling of the Qoros 3 Sedan, it features a sympathetically elongated roofline and a large tailgate. There was nothing substantially wrong with the old Ford Escape, other than how old it was. To be fair, it was updated just a few years ago, but next to Fords latest products, the Escape looked practically ancient.

I use the word "looked" specifically, because its the most obvious issue. The blocky, two-box style simply looks out-of-date. The interior also looked like it was designed in the middle of the last decade, and the materials quality looked on-par with that era as well. A lot has changed in the past few years, at Ford especially, and change has finally come to the Escape in a big way.

For starters, this new Escape looks nothing like the old Escape, though if a lack of continuity is its biggest problem, Ford has little to worry about. And it doesnt. This new Escape, an evolution of Europes Kuga, is a very good crossover. On paper, Ford promises more cargo space, more passenger space, and better fuel economy. On the road, it delivers more than that.

Upright, tall, and designed to imply truckishness, the previous Escape didn’t have a single aggressive, sporty line on its body. That is certainly not the case with the new model. It has sporty creases pressed into its sheetmetal, the windshield is splayed back, the roof is lower, and the front fascia looks vaguely threatening. It’s the same story inside. Simple, square, and upright have been replaced by complicated, multifaceted, and enveloping. Cabin materials now look and feel expensive, although we did notice that a few fits were askew in one of the early-build examples we drove.

The newness continues under the skin. The previous Escape’s Mazda-based platform is gone, replaced by a beefed-up version of Ford’s Focus architecture. Three four-cylinder engines are available, and each comes connected to a conventional six-speed automatic. There is no longer a manual offered, nor is there a hybrid version. (Ford has opted to hybridize its U.S.-market C-Max instead.)

The expected growth of Louisville Assembly will make it the largest factory in Ford’s North American division, said Steven M. Stone, building chairman for UAW Local 862. Union and company officials say that each job at the factory is expected to create at least six spin-off jobs at auto suppliers and other affiliated businesses.About 200 of the workers who will be on the assembly line today are newcomers to Ford’s UAW work force and will earn roughly $16 an hour, far below the $28 an hour and up earned by veteran union members.

2013 Lexus GS

Precisely two weeks remain for the official presentation of the all-new 2013 Lexus GS 350on Thursday, August 18th at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, and the Japanese automaker decided its time to enter the teaser photo game with the release of a single, partially blacked out image of the mid-size luxury sedan.

Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution XI 2013

The next-generation Mitsubishi Lancer Evo could use a plug-in hybrid system that is being shown at the Tokyo motor show, sources have told Autocar.

The plug-in technology is being showcased on the Mitsubishi PX-MiEV concept, and if applied to the Evo XI would dramatically alter its make-up.

With the PX-MiEV, front and rear wheels are powered by two 81bhp permanent magnet synchronous motors. Theres also a 1.6-litre MIVEC petrol engine which not only drives the front wheels but also serves as a generator.

However, the system is configured around Mitsubishis Evo-style S-AWC handling control system, and automatically switches between different drive modes depending on driving style and remaining power in the lithium ion battery pack.

Its a highly sophisticated switchable system that borrows i-MiEV electric car tech for the back wheels but uses a new parallel-type hybrid system for the fronts. It also delivers over 140mpg economy, Mitsubishi says. Mitsubishi hopes to have it on the market by 2013, but company insiders say the technology could be directed at the new Evo.
